The Ministry of Education of China has established Sino-American CulturalExchange Degree Students Scholarship scheme from 2016 to 2017. In order tocoordinate with the implementation of the scholarship scheme, Hubei Universityhere releases the Information Brochure about the Sino-American CulturalExchange Degree Students Scholarship.
I.Supporting Category
This program supports international students who willstudy in China for an undergraduate or graduate degree. Applicants must be acitizen of USA who is not currently studying in China. Any language andliterature major other than Chinese language and literature will not besupported by this scholarship.
II.Language of Instruction
Programs are normally taughtin Chinese. Scholarship recipients of Chinese-taught programs without adequateChinese proficiency must take Chinese language courses for one academic year toreach the language requirements of the host university before moving on totheir major studies. Applicants should consult Hubei University for moreinformation concerning English-taught programs.
III. Scholarship Coverage and Criteria
Scholarship students will begranted full scholarship while they are studying in Hubei University and meetyearly assessment requirements. Full Scholarship covers:
Tuition waiver. Tuition funds will be comprehensivelyused by the host university.
Accommodation: free university dormitory.
Comprehensive medical insurance.
Stipend:
Undergraduate students: CNY 2,500 per month;
Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000per month;
Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500per month.
IV.Eligibility
1.Applicants must be citizens of the United States ofAmerica, and be in good health.
2.The requirements for applicants’ degree and age arethat applicants must:
be a high-school degree holder under the age of 25 whenapplying for the bachelor’s programs;
be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 whenapplying for the master’s programs;
be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 whenapplying for the doctoral programs.
3. Applicants must have an outstanding academicperformance and submit two recommendation letters signed by a professor or anassociate professor.
4.Appicants holding other kinds of scholarships to studyin China will be excluded as a valid candidate.
V. Application Procedure
1-Complete the onlineapplication procedure at CSC Online Application System for InternationalStudents (Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org andclick “Application Online” to log in), submit online the completed ApplicationForm for Chinese Government Scholarship and print a hard copy. (HubeiUniversity’s agency number is 10512)
2-Submit all of yourapplication documents (in dupicate) to Hubei University before the deadline.
(1) Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship(written in Chinese or English);
(2) Notarized highest diploma (photocopy);
Prospective diploma recipients must submit official documentissued by your current school to prove your current student status or expectedgraduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must beattached with notarized Chinese or English translations;
(3) Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English);
(4) Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy),(written in English, can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org, originalpaper is required when reporting to Chinese universities); The physicalexaminations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner PhysicalExamination Form;
(5) A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chineseor English, preferable in Chinese);This should be a minimum of 800;
(6) Two Recommendation Letters (written in Chinese or English);
Applicants must submit two recommendation letters signedby a professor or an associate professor.
(7) Valid passport copy;
(8) Please submit papers published or certificates ofawards if available.
(You should submit TWO sets of bound documents which willnot be returned.)
